I mean, there’s so much potential, and I think people get so distracted with the tech instead of the outcomes. And for me, I’m like, bureaucracy is great because it keeps people safe.
Regulation is great because it keeps people safe. But it also, as you said, slows things down.
And if you want things to be done quickly, they have to be done grassroots. And really what we were trying to do was create something where the risk was minimized by our processes.
But our processes worked at the pace of Web three, and the risk was minimized by the size of the grant. We weren’t giving away $100,000 in a lump sum.
We’re giving away like 1000, $3,000, which for me, it’s like, if you gave that to the COVID project, I’d be very grateful, but it would go into the pile and it would take its time to filter through, whereas this, we just are able to give it directly. And what would take, like, $1,000 for somebody in Australia would do very little for somebody in a refugee settlement in East Africa.
It’s going to build a building. It’s literally going to build a building.
And so why would you not be excited about the fact that you can use this cool upcoming tech? You can lean on the social structures of the fact that the people with the appetite to get into this tech are all quite like minded and interested in high impact, fast paced, and you can do stuff right now that’s actually going to make the world a better place.
Instead of kind of sitting back and calling blockchain a bunch of names and not doing anything.
