Feminist Quote to NGO Leader

And I’m just like, I wrote it in my pajamas at the kitchen table at 18 years old. It’s just one of those weird things.

And I was leveraging the profile that that quote had. And so I really came up with two NGO strategies.

One was getting more girls into being safari game rangers and actually working down that conservation route, because women in conservation is like an absolute game changer for conservation because they really have a connection with the wildlife and the land that they’re trying to protect, and that trickles down through generations. So it’s a very good thing to get women involved in.

And then I had the period poverty aspect where I was like, look, this is just such a basic thing where all the solutions exist, the products exist, the infrastructure exists to distribute them. It’s just like a funding issue that’s going on here.

And so I was very split in this sliding doors moment of conservation versus women empowerment and kind of health. And at the end of the day, it was really about what’s going to be more impactful and more scalable.
